There's a Barnyard in My Bedroom

Recommended by Curriculum Services Canada, this fun and engaging story, based on three previous children's books by David Suzuki and Eugenie Fernandes, introduces young children to environmental issues without overwhelming them.

In this beautifully illustrated story, a brother and sister go on nature adventures and discover that natural magic is all around them, even in their own home. They find an ocean in their bathroom, dinosaur breath inside their own bodies, and the past and the future in their own backyard.

David Suzuki is an internationally renowned geneticist and environmentalist and a recipient of UNESCO’s Kalinga Prize for the Popularization of Science and the 2009 Right Livelihood Award. Host of the longrunning CBC television program The Nature of Things, he is also the author of more than fifty books.

Eugenie Fernandes is a celebrated artist and author who has illustrated more than ninety books for children and written seventeen. She grew up in Long Island, New York, where her father was an early comic book illustrator in the 1930s. Her own family continue the tradition-her husband, daughter, and son are all children's book illustrators. Fernandes and her husband live near Peterborough, Ontario, where she enjoys watching a succession of wildlife, including otters and wolves, visit the lake near her home.
