Stars, Reviews, & Interviews—Six Months of Greystone Kids!

Vancouver, BC—Greystone Kids, the new children's imprint from Greystone Books, was first announced in early 2019.

What a whirlwind the months since have been, too. But it's great to know that others are starting to take notice. In fact, all five or our fall 2019 launch titles have received Kirkus reviews—a tremendous honour!

And learning that those also included two Kirkus starred reviews only made it sweeter.

Here are all five reviews:

Can You Hear The Trees Talking?
Kirkus says,
 "A tree-treatise treat." FULL REVIEW (★)

Birdsong
Kirkus says, "Emotionally stunning." FULL REVIEW (★)

Spur: A Wolf's Story
Kirkus says, "Effective and unvarnished." FULL REVIEW

The Moose of Ewenki
Kirkus says, "Plodding, "Endearing, and humorous—not unlike a baby moose." FULL REVIEW

Hello, Crow!
Kirkus says, "A gift for the nature shelf." FULL REVIEW

We were also recently honoured to have our team interviewed by Canadian publishing industry outlet Quill & Quire for an article called How the new Greystone Kids Imprint Found the Right People at the Right Time.

The full article is only available with a sign-in. But we are pleased to share the following short excerpt from near the conclusion:

"Though [Greystone Kids Publisher, Rob] Sanders envisions this new imprint primarily publishing picture books and middle-grade non-fiction, at this early stage in the division’s development, it’s fair to say things are still in a nebulous zone. "We are definitely going to break the rules," says Sanders. "There are interesting things coming."

It's true. We're still just getting started at Greystone Kids, and we can't wait for the fall and to see what 'naturally great books' for kids come next!
