Position Description:
The Publishing Assistant provides administrative and editorial support to help Greystone Books meet our high standards and ensure the office runs smoothly and efficiently.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) editorial record-keeping, preparing meeting agendas and taking notes, tracking submissions, and other tasks essential to organizing manuscripts through submission and into production. The Publishing Assistant also reads and responds to submissions, provides some proofreading support as needed, solicits blurbs, and acts as general administrative support to the office.
The ideal candidate possesses a degree in Publishing, English, or equivalent experience, along with some experience in book publishing. Excellent organizational and planning skills, excellent people and communication skills, enthusiasm for grammar, and a love of reading and writing—especially literary nonfiction—are all requirements for this job.
